Cheating in Exams

The Vietnamese education sector has made significant efforts in recent years to improve the quality of teaching and learning. However, aside from notable achievements, there are many unresolved problems, among which is cheating in exams, a serious phenomenon that negatively affects the education system. This is a troubling issue not only for students but also for society in general.

Cheating in exams involves violating exam regulations such as copying, using outside materials, or even resorting to unfair means to achieve high scores. This action not only originates from students but also from some parents and teachers. This issue becomes more serious when these individuals can facilitate or even guide this cheating behavior, causing students to become increasingly negligent in their studies and lack self-discipline.

The manifestation of exam cheating nowadays is no longer a secretive matter but has become a prevalent and clear problem. Despite being aware that cheating is wrong, many still turn a blind eye or even assist in this action. The consequences of exam cheating are extremely serious. It not only erases fairness in education but also prevents students from developing independent thinking, self-learning skills, and self-discipline. Instead of studying to understand deeply, students focus only on finding ways to bypass rules to achieve results without real effort. As a result, they will be ill-prepared to face future challenges in life, and upon entering society, they will encounter myriad difficulties due to a lack of genuine skills and knowledge.

To resolve the cheating issue in exams, first, there must be a strong determination from teachers and relevant authorities. Teachers must be stricter in supervising exams and handle cheating cases judiciously. All forms of cheating must be condemned and stopped from the onset. Authorities need to implement stricter monitoring in important exams such as graduation and university exams to ensure transparency and fairness. Additionally, an educational environment that values honesty should be built, encouraging students to genuinely study and develop their own thinking and creativity.

Moreover, students themselves need to clearly understand the harm caused by cheating. They need to realize that only serious and honest learning brings lasting and sustainable results. The country needs individuals who are self-reliant, self-taught, creative, and grow based on their own abilities. Stopping cheating not only helps students develop themselves but also contributes to building a developed society where people can succeed through personal effort and intellect.

Thus, exam cheating is an issue that cannot be taken lightly. To prevent and eradicate this problem, collective effort is required from everyone, from teachers, students to relevant authorities. Only when education is built on the foundation of honesty and fairness can we create a generation of truly talented, creative students who are responsible towards society.

Environmental Sanitation

Environmental sanitation has become one of the top concerns not only in Vietnam but globally. In many advanced countries, citizens have been educated about the importance of protecting the environment and maintaining public hygiene. This ensures that the living environment in these countries is always clean and airy. However, in Vietnam, the situation of littering and lack of public hygiene remains quite common, posing a problem that causes severe pollution.

The manifestations of not maintaining street hygiene in our country are quite apparent. Thoughtless actions such as throwing trash on the streets, discarding wrappers, bottles, tissues on sidewalks or public places, even when trash cans are nearby, still frequently occur. This situation arises not only in residential areas but also in streets labeled as "cultural streets," where citizens are expected to have a sense of environmental hygiene protection. Many people carelessly dump trash anywhere they find convenient, regardless of the impact it causes on the landscape, community health, and severe environmental pollution.

Littering outside is also demonstrated in instances where waste transport drivers dump trash everywhere or even negligent residents discard leftover food and wastewater into drainage systems, causing blockages and foul odors. Some even recklessly dispose of trash directly into rivers or lakes, severely polluting the water sources. A sad reality is that this behavior is not limited to low-income residents; even some young people and students have the habit of indiscriminately discarding advertising leaflets, turning the streets into unsightly, unhygienic areas.

Sadly, this phenomenon doesn't stop at small actions but also affects public health. The presence of waste on sidewalks or public areas provides a breeding ground for bacteria and pathogens, posing risks for outbreaks of dangerous diseases such as dengue fever, diarrhea, and respiratory conditions. This situation not only reduces the quality of life for residents but also diminishes the value of the surrounding environment, hindering social development.

To address this situation, each citizen must change their mindset and be conscious of protecting environmental hygiene. This is not only reflected in maintaining hygiene within their own households but must extend to the community, participating in environmental protection activities such as collecting waste at designated places, not littering in the streets, and joining neighborhood clean-up movements. Furthermore, functional agencies should increase propaganda, education, and apply strict penalties for indiscriminate littering actions.

We cannot be proud of a civilized, prosperous city if we live every day in a sea of garbage. A clean environment is not only the government's responsibility but also the duty of every citizen. Let's join hands to protect environmental hygiene to create a wholesome, civilized, and livable society for everyone.
