What are the principles for selecting 3rd-grade textbooks in Vietnam?
Under Article 2 of Circular 27/2023/TT-BGDDT, the principles for selecting 3rd-grade textbooks are as follows:
- Textbooks must be selected from the list of textbooks approved by the Minister of Education and Training for stable use in educational institutions.
- Each grade selects one (1) textbook for each subject, educational activity (including any optional content or study topics, if available) conducted at the educational institution (commonly referred to as a subject).
- The selection of textbooks must ensure democratic, objective, public, and transparent processes, focusing on the interests of students.
What is the age of students entering 3rd grade in Vietnam?
Under Article 33 of the Primary School Charter issued along with Circular 28/2020/TT-BGDDT, the regulations on the age of primary school students are as follows:
Age of Primary School Students
1. The age of students entering grade one is 6. Children with disabilities, physical or intellectual development delays, children in particularly disadvantaged areas, children of ethnic minorities, orphans without support, children returning from abroad, children of foreigners studying or working in Vietnam can enter grade one at an age older than the prescribed age but not exceeding 3 years. If a child enters grade one at an age exceeding 3 years, it will be decided by the head of the Division of Education and Training.
