Does the 5th-grade Vietnamese language curriculum help students discover themselves and the world around them?
Under Section 3 of the General education program in Literature issued with Circular 32/2018/TT-BGDDT, the objectives of the General education program in Literature are as follows:
- Form and develop in students essential qualities: patriotism, compassion, diligence, honesty, and responsibility; nurture the soul, shape character, and develop individuality.
Help students discover themselves and the world around them, understand humanity, have a rich spiritual life, possess humanistic life perspectives and behaviors; foster love for the Vietnamese language and literature; have awareness of national roots and identity, contributing to the preservation and development of Vietnamese cultural values; and embrace the essence of global cultures, supporting international integration.
- Contribute to helping students develop general competencies: self-reliance and self-learning skills, communication and cooperation skills, problem-solving, and creativity.
Specifically, Literature helps students develop language and literary competencies: refining skills in reading, writing, speaking, and listening; establishing foundational general knowledge of Vietnamese language and literature, fostering imaginative and logical thinking, contributing to basic education for a cultured individual; knowing how to create common documents; knowing how to interpret, evaluate literary works in particular, and communication products and aesthetic values in general.
Therefore, one of the general objectives of the 5th-grade Vietnamese language curriculum is to help students discover themselves and the world around them.
