What is vocational education according to the law in Vietnam?
Pursuant to Article 3 of the Vocational Education Law 2014, vocational education is a level of the national education system aimed at training elementary, intermediate, college, and other vocational training programs for workers to meet the direct labor requirements in production, business, and services. This is conducted in two forms: formal training and continuous training.
In which, vocational training involves teaching and learning activities to equip learners with necessary professional knowledge, skills, and attitudes to find employment or self-employment after completing the course or to enhance their professional level.
Training Forms:
Formal training is conducted through full-time courses by vocational education institutions and higher education institutions, businesses registered to operate vocational education (hereinafter referred to collectively as vocational education institutions) to train at the elementary, intermediate, and college levels.
Continuous training is conducted concurrently while working, through distance learning or self-study with guidance for programs at the elementary, intermediate, college levels, and other vocational training programs, carried out flexibly in terms of program, time, method, and training location, suitable to the needs of the learners.

What are 02 symbols honoring current vocational education in Vietnam?
Based on Decision 1071/QD-LDTBXH 2021 on the symbols Skilling up Viet Nam and Worldskills Viet Nam issued by the Minister of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, Skilling Up Viet Nam (Enhancing Vietnamese Labor Skills) and Worldskills Viet Nam (Vietnam Vocational Skills Competition) are the two latest honor symbols used for promotional activities, propagandizing, honoring vocational education, and developing Vietnamese vocational skills both domestically and internationally.

What are State policies on vocational education development in Vietnam?
As stipulated in Article 6 of the Vocational Education Law 2014, state policies on vocational education development are as follows:
- Develop an open, flexible, diversified vocational education system towards standardization, modernization, democratization, private investment, and international integration, linking vocational education levels and linking with other training levels.
- Investment in vocational education is prioritized in socio-economic development plans and human resource development. The budget for vocational education is prioritized in the overall state budget allocation for education and training; allocated transparently and promptly.
- Invest in improving training quality, developing the network of vocational education institutions according to planning; focus on investing in forming a number of key high-quality vocational education institutions to meet the labor market demand, the learning needs of workers, and gradually universalize vocational training for youth.
- The state has policies to channel lower secondary and upper secondary school graduates into vocational education according to each stage of socio-economic development.
- Prioritize investment for workforce training in national key sectors and trades, sectors and trades with advanced regional and international levels; focus on developing vocational education in areas with particularly challenging socio-economic conditions, ethnic minority areas, border areas, islands, coastal areas; invest in training occupations that the labor market needs but are difficult for private investment in.
- The state implements tendering, placing training orders for specialty fields; essential sectors; trades the labor market needs but find it difficult for private investment. Vocational education institutions regardless of type are eligible to participate in tendering and placing orders as stipulated in this clause.
- Support beneficiaries of preferential policies, including people with meritorious services to the revolution, discharged soldiers, ethnic minorities, those from poor and near-poor households, people with disabilities, orphans without support, offshore fishermen, rural workers directly involved in agricultural production households whose land is confiscated, and other social policy beneficiaries to create opportunities for them to study, find jobs, self-employment, establish their own career; ensure gender equality in vocational education.
- The state facilitates vocational education institutions to organize research, apply science, technology; integrate training with scientific research, production, business, and services to enhance training quality.
