Pursuant to Article 7 of Circular 42/2022/TT-BCT stipulating as follows:
Card form and expiry date of the Electricity Inspector card
1. The Electricity inspector card has dimensions of 58 mm x 90 mm, the form of which is specified in Appendix I issued with this Circular.
2. The Electricity inspector card is yellow-orange.
3. Electricity inspector card is valid for 5 years from the date of card issuance. In case of re-issuance of the card according to the provisions at Points b and c, Clause 4, Article 6 of this Circular, the time limit for re-issuance of the card shall be according to the time limit specified in the old card already issued.
Accordingly, the card form of the electricity inspector is prescribed as follows:
- Sample card of the Electricity Inspector with dimensions of 58 mm x 90 mm
- The Electricity inspector card is yellow-orange
At the same time, the Electricity inspector card is valid for 5 years from the date of issuance of the card.
In case of re-issuance of the card, the time limit for re-issuance of the card shall be according to the time limit stated in the old card already issued.

3. Electricity inspector card is only granted (including new and re-issued) when an individual meets the criteria of electricity inspector specified in Article 5 of this Circular.
Referring to Article 5 of Circular 42/2022/TT-BCT, the conditions for being granted an electricity inspector card are as follows:
An electricity inspector card is only issued (including issued and re-issued) when an individual meets the criteria of an Electricity Inspector:
- Having an intermediate or higher degree in electrical engineering or being an electrical technician at level 5/7 or higher.
- Having worked in the field of management of transmission and distribution grids for at least 3 years, for electricity inspectors of power transmission and distribution units;
- Having worked in the field of electricity business for at least 3 years, for electricity inspectors of electricity wholesalers and retailers.
- Having been trained in legal knowledge on electricity activities, electricity use and safety protection of electricity works and power grids, standards, processes, electrical technical regulations, and electrical safety and have had good results. The test results at the end of the training meet the requirements.
- Having the ability to research, detect, analyze, synthesize and propose solutions according to the function of the inspection.
- Being healthy, having good moral qualities, having a sense of responsibility, being honest, fair and objective.
- Having not been criminally handled or has been penalized but has had his criminal record cleared; has not been handled for an administrative violation in the electricity sector or has been considered not to have been handled for an administrative violation in the electricity field.
Vietnam: When will an electricity inspector have their cards revoked?
Pursuant to Clause 5, Article 6 of Circular 42/2022/TT-BCT stipulating the cases in which electricity inspector cards must be re-issued are as follows:
- The cardholder no longer meets one of the criteria for electricity inspector specified in Article 5 of Circular 42/2022/TT-BCT
- The scope and content inscribed in the card are no longer relevant;
- The card has expired or is torn, blurred or damaged;
- The person granted the card changes job or no longer performs the duties of the Electricity Inspector.
