Currently, according to the provisions of Article 9 of the Law on Citizen's Identity 2014 (Clause 1 of this Article is amended by Clause 1, Article 37 of the Law on Residence 2020), which stipulates that information about citizens is collected and updated into the database. Country-specific data on population are as follows:

(1) Information collected and updated includes:

- Surname, middle name and birth name;

- Date of birth;

- Gender;

- Place of birth registration;

- Home town;

- Ethnic;

- Religion;

- Nationality;

- Marital status;

- Place of residence;

- Shelter;

- Status of declaration of temporary absence;

- Current place of residence;

- Relationship with the head of the household;

- Blood group, when a citizen requests an update and presents a conclusion on a test to determine that person's blood type;

- Full name, middle name and first name, personal identification number or number of people's identity card, nationality of father, mother, wife, husband or legal representative;

- Full name, middle name and first name, personal identification number or ID card number of the household head and members of the household;

- Date, month, year dead or missing.

(2) Citizens' information is collected and updated into the National Population Database from the archives and the Citizen Identity Database, Residence Database, and Household Database. and other specialized databases through the normalized processing of available population data.

If the information and documents specified in Clause 1 of this Article are not available or are incomplete, they shall be collected and updated from citizens.

In Clause 1, Article 18 of the Law on Citizenship Identity 2014 it is stated that:

The citizen identification card includes the following information:

- The front of the card has the image of the National Emblem of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; the words Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Independence - Freedom - Happiness; the words "Citizen identification"; photo, citizen identification card number, last name, middle initial and first name, date of birth, date of birth, gender, nationality, hometown, place of permanent residence; expiration date, month, year;

- The back of the card has an encrypted information storage unit; fingerprints, identification characteristics of cardholders; date, month and year of card issue; full name, middle initial and name, title, signature of the card issuer and a seal with the national emblem of the card issuer.

Current practice shows that there are many cases where citizens do not have information about their date of birth; have no permanent residence; there is no clear home address…which makes the uniform use of Citizenship ID instead of other documents.

At the same time, when integrating a lot of personal information and with the goal of using Citizen ID to replace some other documents of citizens, the information stated in the Law is still incomplete, causing difficulties in the process. use.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Public Security has proposed the following additional information:

- Biometric information including iris, DNA, voice.

- Information on stateless people who have lived stably and long-term in Vietnam (from 05 years or more).
