The Northern Region Post clearance audit Sub-Department (Department 1), the Central Post clearance audit Sub-Department (Department 2) and the Southern Post clearance audit Sub-Department (Department 3)—hereinafter referred to as the Sub-Department—is a unit directly under the Post clearance audit Department with the function of advising and assisting the Director of the Post clearance audit Department and directly organizing the implementation of post-customs clearance inspection.
in accordance with the provisions of law within the assigned management area.

Tasks and powers of the Post clearance audit Sub-Department include:
- Develop a plan for Post clearance audit of the Sub-department in the assigned area and coordinate with the Information Collection, Verification, and Processing Department to develop the Department's Post clearance audit plan in each period.
- Based on the approved Post clearance audit plan, collect information for the Post clearance audit.
- Propose the Director of the Post clearance audit Department to issue or submit to the General Director the inspection decision, organize the implementation of the inspection decision, and handle the results of the post-customs clearance inspection for cases of post-customs clearance inspection at the headquarters of the customs declarant according to the assigned geographical area.
- Coordinate with units under the Post clearance audit Department to advise the Director or assist the Director in advising the General Director to settle complaints about administrative decisions falling under the authority of the Director or the General Director.
- Update, respond, store, and keep confidential records and documents related to the post-customs clearance inspection of the Sub-department according to regulations.
- Synthesize, make statistics, and report on the assessment of the situation and results of the post-customs clearance inspection of the Sub-department and in the areas it is assigned to manage; propose and recommend issues and contents that need to be amended or supplemented in terms of policies, regimes, and improvements in management measures and professional processes for post-customs clearance inspection.
- Manage civil servants, employees, and the finances, property, and equipment of the Sub-department in accordance with the provisions of law and regulations of the General Department of Customs.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Director.

- Management area of Sub-Department 1: Manage the northern area from the management of the Northern Customs Departments to the management area of the Hanoi Customs Department.
- Management area of Sub-Department 2: Implement area management in the area under the management of Customs Departments from Ha Nam Ninh Customs Department to the management area of Khanh Hoa Customs Department
(including the Central Highlands provinces).
- Management area of Sub-Department 3: Implement the management of the southern region under the management of the Customs Department: Ho Chi Minh City, the Southeast provinces and the Southwest provinces.
In case of Post clearance audit of an enterprise that is not under its management, the Sub-department shall report it to the Director for consideration and decision.

The Sub-department under the Post clearance audit Department has 02 affiliated teams:
- General Team;
- Professional team for Post clearance audit.
The specific tasks of the Teams are prescribed by the Director of the Post clearance audit Department. The payroll of the Sub-Department is decided by the Director of the Post clearance audit Department out of the total number of staff assigned.
