2. Duties and powers of the Vietnam Inland Waterways Administration regarding inland waterway transport infrastructure

Duties and powers of the Vietnam Inland Waterways Administration regarding inland waterway transport infrastructure include:

- Organize the management and supervision of the implementation of planning and development plans for inland waterway transport infrastructure systems approved by competent authorities;

- Organize and implement the management and supervision of the maintenance of inland waterway infrastructure; Plan and estimate costs for annual and medium-term inland waterway infrastructure maintenance (or planning period) within the scope of management, submit to the Ministry of Transport for approval, and organize implementation according to the regulations of the Law;

- Submit to the Minister for a decision on decentralization of management and maintenance of inland waterway transport infrastructure;

- Submit to the Minister to announce the opening, closing, and conversion of national inland waterway channels and specialized channels connecting to national channels;

- Submit to the Minister the list of frequencies for periodic surveys of national inland waterways according to regulations;

- Submit to the Minister to decide the contract price for maintaining national inland waterway infrastructure assets;

- Agree and give written opinions on investment projects to build works that are not part of inland waterway infrastructure and activities on national inland waterways according to the provisions of law;

- Guide local specialized agencies and units to manage and protect local inland waterway infrastructure. Summary of inland waterways being managed, exploited, and maintained nationwide.
