Vietnam: Official and public employees of the Courts Must Not Delay or Evade Responsibilities

Recently, the Supreme People's Court of Vietnam has issued Directive 05/2020/CT-CA on strengthening discipline and public service orders in the People's Courts.

Officials, public employees, employees in the People’s Courts of Vietnam must enhance ethics, discipline, rules, sense of responsibility, and spirit of serving the people; adhere to the rules and cultural regulations of workplace conduct. To be specific:

- Strictly implement the Code of Conduct for officials of the People’s Court; the Code of Ethics and Conduct for Judges;

- In performing tasks, they must strictly adhere to the internal regulations and working time rules of the agency or unit. They must fully and properly perform the assigned duties and responsibilities; do not let tasks be overdue, omit assigned duties; do not avoid or evade responsibilities; do not abuse their positions and assigned duties to harass, vex, or exploit for personal gain when handling and resolving work related to individuals, organizations, and enterprises;

- Vietnamese officials and public employees, laborers violating discipline and administrative rules will be strictly examined and handled according to the provisions of the law. The head of the agency or unit must be responsible to the leader for violations of officials and public employees, laborers within their management scope and must not cover up any violations;
