Strictly avoid late detection of cases of COVID-19 in Vietnam

Recently, the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control of Vietnam issued Official Telegram 1158/CD-BCDQG regarding the prevention and control of COVID-19 infection in medical examination and treatment facilities.

Since July 23, 2020, many new cases have been detected and the source of infection has not been identified. In response to this complicated and dangerous development, the National Steering Committee directs the Provincial People's Committee, Director of the Department of Health, Hospital Directors, and Heads of related units to immediately and seriously undertake the following actions:

- Directors of medical examination and treatment facilities urgently review, strengthen and strictly implement issued regulations on disease prevention and infection control. Compile a list and monitor all medical staff, patients related to urgent announcements from the Ministry of Health, and those with epidemiological factors;

- Enhance screening measures, promptly order early SARS-CoV-2 tests for patients and medical staff showing suspicious symptoms, even in cases with unclear epidemiological history to detect cases early and isolate promptly. Absolutely avoid late detection of cases;

- Implement and apply the safety assessment for epidemic prevention according to Decision 3088/QD-BYT dated July 16, 2020;
