The Ministry of Health has just issued Circular 24/2019/TT-BYT regulating the management and use of food additives.
Issued together with this Circular is the List of Food Additives Permitted for Use in Foods and other appendices such as:
- Appendix 2A and 2B on Maximum Usage Levels of Food Additives in Foods;- Appendix 3 List of Food Additives and Food Items Used According to GMP.
For flavorings used in foods, they must be flavorings that have been identified as safe by JECFA, meeting the corresponding technical requirements regarding identification and purity, in accordance with the regulations in TCVN 6417:2010 Guidelines for the Use of Flavorings and specific regulations in Circular 24/2019/TT-BYT.
Additionally, issued together with the Circular is the Food Group Classification and Description in Appendix 4 to determine the food group applicable for Appendix 2A and Appendix 3.
