Norms for the Use of X-ray Machines in Medical Activities

The Ministry of Health has just issued Circular 08/2019/TT-BYT providing guidelines on the standards and quotas for the use of specialized machinery and equipment in the field of healthcare.

Standards and Norms for Using X-ray Systems in Medical Operations are Stipulated as Follows:

Digital X-ray Machines for General Imaging:

- Average demand below 300 scans/month/facility: Maximum 01 machine/facility;- Average demand from 300 - 2600 scans/month/facility: Maximum 02 machines/facility;- When the average utilization rate exceeds 1300 scans/month/machine, an additional machine will be provided.

Mobile X-ray Machines:

- Maximum 01 machine/intensive care unit; emergency unit; post-operative recovery unit;- Radiology department: Maximum 01 machine/200 inpatient beds.

C Arm X-ray Machines:

- Maximum 01 machine/04 operating rooms;- Facilities performing retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) or interventions will be provided with an additional maximum of 01 machine/unit.
