Do not use tobacco and pipe tobacco as medicinal ingredients for drug processing

This is a new regulation in Circular 42/2017/TT-BYT on the List of Toxic Medicinal Herbs issued by the Minister of Health on November 13, 2017.

Effective from December 28, 2017, the following medicinal herbs are removed from the List of Toxic Plant-derived Medicinal Herbs for Medicine:

- Tobacco;- Pipe Tobacco;- Wild Ginger.

Additionally, the following medicinal herbs are added to the List of Toxic Plant-derived Medicinal Herbs for Medicine:

- Radix Hedyotidis Diffusae;- Wormseed Plant;- Periwinkle;- Peach Kernel;- Bitter Almond;- Brucea Javanica Seed;- Sago Palm;- Elephantopus Scaber;- Chinaberry.

For medicinal herbs such as Peach Kernel and Bitter Almond, regulations mandate that they must be processed according to proper processing methods before use for medicinal purposes.
