Criteria for Determining Remote and Isolated Border Guard Stations

On October 9, 2017, the Government of Vietnam issued Decree 114/2017/ND-CP regulating Border Guard Stations in remote and isolated areas.

Border posts located in remote and isolated areas are those that meet one of the following criteria:

- Stationed and managing mountainous communes, island communes, and coastal areas with complex, rugged, and fragmented natural terrain, difficult transportation, and far from district administrative centers;- Stationed and managing mountainous communes, islands with a regional allowance of ≥ 0.2 and a special allowance of ≥ 30%;- Stationed and managing communes and wards in areas crucial for political security, order, and social safety.

The Government of Vietnam assigns the Minister of National Defense to decide on the list of border posts in remote and isolated areas.

Decree 114/2017/ND-CP is effective from January 01, 2018.
