A fine up to 3 million imposed for bringing foreign nationals to a land border area without notifying the authority in Vietnam

This is a notable content of Decree 96/2020/ND-CP of the Government of Vietnam regulating the administrative penalties for violations in the field of national border management and protection, issued on August 24, 2020.

According to Clause 4, Article 6 of Decree 96/2020/ND-CP, a fine ranging from VND 2,000,000 to VND 3,000,000 may be imposed for any of the following acts:

- Agencies or organizations bringing foreign nationals to a land border area without sending any person to accompany them or notifying the provincial police authority and provincial Border Guard of arrival;

- Failing to comply with decisions to temporarily suspend activities in the land border area and border belt as issued by competent authorities;

- Facilitating or enabling unauthorized individuals or vehicles to operate in the land border area;

- Traveling beyond the regulated extent in the land border area, except for border residents;- Illegally filming, photographing, surveying, drawing scenes, recording images with electronic devices, or transmitting radio signals in prohibited areas.
