  • Fishing ships mean ships, boats and other floating structures exclusively used for exploiting, rearing aquatic resources, preserving or processing aquatic products. To ensure safety and development in fisheries activities, fishing ships must undergo registry and registration in accordance with Vietnam’s regulations, specifically as follows:

  • Exploitation of aquatic resources means the exploitation of aquatic resources in the sea, rivers, lakes, marshes, lagoons and other natural water areas. According to Vietnam’s regulations, aquatic resource-exploiting organizations and individuals must have aquatic resource exploitation permits, except for the cases where individuals exploit aquatic resources with fishing ships of under 0.5 ton or without fishing ships.

  • Fishery activities mean the exploitation, culture, transportation of exploited aquatic resources; preservation, processing, trading in, export and import of aquatic products; services in fishery activities; survey, protection and development of aquatic resources. The Law on Fisheries 2003 of Vietnam specifies acts which are strictly prohibited in fishery activities as follows:
