According to Decree 07/2017/ND-CP regulating the order and procedures for the pilot issuance of electronic visas (E-Visas) for foreign nationals (FNs) entering Vietnam
Foreign nationals from 40 countries on the trial list for electronic visa issuance promulgated with Decree 07 requesting the issuance of electronic visas shall proceed as follows:
- Access the Electronic Visa Issuance Portal to fill out the request form for electronic visa issuance, upload photos and the personal details page of the passport according to Form No. 01 promulgated with this Decree;- Receive an electronic dossier code and pay the visa issuance fee to the account on the Electronic Visa Issuance Portal.
The Immigration Department shall review, resolve, and reply to the individual requesting the issuance of an electronic visa within 03 working days from the date of receipt of complete information and visa issuance fee.
The foreign national requesting the issuance of an electronic visa shall use the electronic dossier code to check the processing results on the Electronic Visa Issuance Portal; if the electronic visa is granted, use the electronic dossier code to print the electronic visa according to Form No. 02 promulgated with this Decree;
The foreign national shall use the electronic visa to enter and exit through the international checkpoints specified in Appendix 2;
Additionally, the Decree also stipulates the issuance of electronic visas upon the request of inviting or guaranteeing agencies and organizations.

- 8 air checkpoints including international airports:- Noi Bai- Tan Son Nhat- Cam Ranh- Da Nang- Cat Bi- Can Tho- Phu Quoc- Phu Bai- 13 land checkpoints (international checkpoints Mong Cai/Quang Ninh, Huu Nghi/Lang Son, Lao Cai/Lao Cai, Nam Can/Nghe An, Cau Treo/Ha Tinh, Cha Lo/Quang Binh, Lao Bao/Quang Tri, Bo Y/Kon Tum, Moc Bai/Tay Ninh, Tinh Bien/An Giang, Song Tien/An Giang, and Ha Tien/Kien Giang)- 7 sea checkpoints (ports of Hon Gai/Quang Ninh, Hai Phong/Hai Phong, Nha Trang/Khanh Hoa, Da Nang/Da Nang, Quy Nhon/Binh Dinh, Vung Tau/Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Ho Chi Minh City/Ho Chi Minh City).
Decree 07/2017/ND-CP shall be effective for 02 years from February 01, 2017.
