Increased Fines for Acts of Buying and Selling Sex

One of the noteworthy points in this Draft is the regulation on administrative fines for acts of buying and selling sex. To be specific:

For the act of buying sex:

- A fine ranging from VND 1,000,000 to VND 2,000,000 for the act of buying sex (the current fine is from VND 500,000 to VND 1,000,000).

- A fine ranging from VND 2,000,000 to VND 5,000,000 in case of buying sex with multiple people at once.

- A fine ranging from VND 5,000,000 to VND 10,000,000 for acts of assisting, soliciting, inciting, coercing, or forcing others to buy sex (currently, the regulation imposes a fine ranging from VND 5,000,000 to VND 10,000,000 for acts of soliciting or coercing others to buy sex).

In addition, violators are also subject to confiscation of the money and assets used to perform the aforementioned acts of buying sex.

For the act of selling sex:

- A warning or a fine ranging from VND 300,000 to VND 500,000 for the act of selling sex (the current fine is from VND 100,000 to VND 300,000).

- A fine ranging from VND 1,000,000 to VND 2,000,000 in case of selling sex to multiple people at once (the current fine is from VND 300,000 to VND 500,000).

Additionally, violators are subject to confiscation of the money obtained from performing the aforementioned acts of selling sex.

Foreigners who commit the aforementioned act of selling sex may, depending on the extent of the violation, be subject to expulsion from the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
