At the end of 2017, Circular 51/2017/TT-BYT was signed and issued by the Ministry of Health, providing guidelines for the prevention, diagnosis, and management of anaphylaxis.
Circular 51 has provided guidance on the diagnosis of anaphylaxis by outlining specific symptoms of anaphylaxis, including the following symptoms:
- Urticaria, rapid angioedema.- Shortness of breath, chest tightness, stridor.- Abdominal pain or vomiting.- Hypotension or syncope.- Altered consciousness.
Additionally, differential diagnosis is also stipulated in Circular 51 as follows:
- Shock cases: cardiogenic shock, hypovolemic shock, septic shock.- Cerebrovascular accidents.- Respiratory-related causes: COPD, bronchial asthma episodes, laryngeal dyspnea.- Dermatological conditions: urticaria, angioedema.- Endocrine conditions: thyroid storm, carcinoid syndrome, hypoglycemia.- Poisoning cases: alcohol, opiates, histamine.
