On December 30, 2015, the Ministry of Health issued Circular 57/2015/TT-BYT detailing the provisions of Decree 10/2015/ND-CP dated January 28, 2015 of the Government on childbirth by in vitro fertilization techniques and the conditions for surrogacy for humanitarian purposes. In particular, the Circular sets forth the health standards for individuals undergoing in vitro fertilization.
According to Circular 57/2015/TT-BYT, individuals seeking in-vitro fertilization must meet the following standards:
- Not suffering from any medical condition that would make them unfit to undergo in-vitro fertilization, pregnancy, or childbirth; not suffering from sexually transmitted infections, HIV, or infectious diseases classified in groups A and B;- Not suffering from genetic diseases that could impact the life and development of the child upon birth; not suffering from mental illnesses or other conditions that would impair their ability to perceive or control their actions.- Individuals undergoing in-vitro fertilization must have a written conclusion from the head of an authorized facility confirming that they are healthy enough to undergo the process, carry a pregnancy, and give birth.
