On July 01, 2021, the Law on amendments to the Law on prevention and control of HIV/AIDS 2020 will officially take effect.
According to Clause 3 Article 1 of the Law on amendments to the Law on prevention and control of HIV/AIDS 2020 of Vietnam, the 13 following entities are given priority of access to information and education about HIV/AIDS prevention and control:
- HIV-positive persons;
- Drug users;
- Prostitutes;
- People having same-sex relationship; (completely new provision)
- Transgender people; (completely new provision)
- Spouses and other family members of HIV-positive persons; spouses of the entities mentioned in Points b, c, d and dd of this Clause;
- People having sexual relationship with HIV-positive persons;
- Persons infected with sexually transmitted diseases;
- Mobile populations;
- Pregnant women;
- Convicts, persons held in detention, and persons held in custody at reform schools, correctional institutions or rehabilitation centers; (completely new provision)
- Ethnics; residents in mountainous areas, remote and isolated areas, islands, border areas, or extremely disadvantaged areas;
- Persons from 13 to under 30 years of age. (completely new provision)
