This is a notable content of the Circular No. 24/2019/TT-BGDĐT on Regulations on training at intermediate and college level in teacher training majors, issued by the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam on December 26, 2019.
Assessment of subject scores, modules, GPA (Grade Point Average) of the semester, academic year, course, and cumulative GPA is guided in Article 19 of Circular No. 24/2019/TT-BGDĐT of the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam as follows:
1. Subject and module scores
- Subject and module scores include the average score of test scores (regular and periodical) weighted 0.4 and the final exam score weighted 0.6;
- The average test score is the average of the regular test scores, the periodical test scores according to the coefficients of each type of score; in which, the regular test score shall be calculated as coefficient 1, the periodical test score shall be calculated as coefficient 2;
- The subject or module score is satisfactory when there is a score on a 10-point scale of 5.00 or higher (for year-based training) or 4.00 or higher after being converted (for training under the credit system).
2. Cumulative GPA is the average score of the modules that learners have accumulated, from the beginning of the course to the time it is considered at the end of each semester, school year, or course.
Note: GPA of the semester, academic year, course, and cumulative GPA are rounded to two decimal places.
- The formula for calculating the GPA of the semester, academic year, course, and cumulative GPA:
In which:
+ A: GPA of the semester, academic year, course or cumulative GPA;
+ i: Ordinal number of the subject, module;
+ ai: Grade of the subject No. i;
+ ni: Number of credits of the subject No. i;
+ n: Total number of subjects, modules in the semester, academic year, course or accumulated credits.
- GPA of the semester, academic year, course, and cumulative GPA shall include points of reserved subjects and modules, and exclude points of exempted subjects and modules and conditional subjects and modules;
- In case a student is temporarily suspended from studying a subject or module, the learning volume of that subject or module during the period of suspension shall not be counted.
GPA of the semester, academic year, course, and cumulative GPA shall only be served as basis for considering scholarships and commendations after each semester, academic year or course, which is calculated according to the results of the first exam at the end of the course or module; for considering adjusting the study progress, forcing the withdrawal is calculated according to the results of the final exam, the subject with the highest score.
The Physical Education, Defense and Security Education modules are 2 conditional modules; the result of the assessment of these 2 subjects and modules is not included in the GPA of the semester, academic year, course, and cumulative GPA, graduation classification but is one of the conditions to consider completing the study volume, considering the conditions for taking the graduation exam or defending the thesis, graduation thesis and recorded in the transcript issued with the diploma.
