Recently, the Ministry of Transport of Vietnam has issued Circular 65/2014/TT-BGTVT on the economic-technical norms for public buses.

Circular 65/2014/TT-BGTVT specifies periodic maintenance contents for public buses after every 4,000 km in Vietnam as follows:
- Prepare maintenance records, materials, tools, equipment, assign tasks, and organize production;
- Wash the vehicle (inside, outside, undercarriage), wash the radiator (radiator) and air conditioner condenser;
- Move the vehicle to the maintenance position and support it;
- Check the tightness of lubrication, fuel, coolant, brake oil, clutch, and air pipes;
- Check and tighten the assembly details around the engine and chassis;
- Remove the air filter, clean, blowout, replace the filter (if necessary), and reinstall;
- Check and adjust the slack of various belts;
- Check and tighten the steering system tie rods;
- Check and tighten the leaf spring clamps and propeller shafts;
- Check and tighten the gearbox mounting bolts;
- Check the clutch system, and adjust the free play of the clutch pedal according to technical specifications;
- Check and adjust the sensitivity of the gas pedal;
- Check the oil levels in the containers: engine, gearbox, front axle, rear axle, brake oil, clutch oil, power steering oil. Replenish, and replace when due;
- Drain the dirt in the air tank;
- Check and adjust the handbrake and foot brake according to standard technical specifications;
- Check the battery charge level, add distilled water, clean the ventilation holes, and check the lights and horns;
- Check the condition of the tires, wobbles, deformations, uneven wear, and tire pressure, inflate tires;
- Check the condition of the doors and the operation of the electric or pneumatic door opening and closing system;
- Check the normal operation of the air conditioning system: power switch, cooling switch, fan switch, cooling level, air outlet, and dashboard indicator lights. Check and clean the air filters, condenser, and evaporator, and ensure normal operation of condenser and evaporator fans;
- Check the tightness of the compressor, belt tensioner pulley, and magnetic clutch pulley of the compressor, tighten, and check for belt wear and tear. Adjust and replace if necessary;
- Check for gas leaks at connections, gas shortage, compressor lubrication oil, and clean the outer surface of the pipes;- Lubricate grease nipples;
- Clean and inspect the vehicle after maintenance.
