Vietnam: Introduction to Aquaculture in brackish water and saltwater, Level 5 of VQF

On February 10, 2019, Circular 52/2018/TT-BLDTBXH issued by the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Vietnam on the minimum knowledge volume and required competencies for graduates from intermediate (Level 4 of VQF) and college (Level 5 of VQF) levels in agriculture, forestry, fisheries, and veterinary will come into force.

According to the regulation on the minimum knowledge volume and required competencies for graduates from intermediate and college levels in Aquaculture in brackish water and saltwater issued together with Circular 52/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, Aquaculture in brackish water and saltwater, Level 5 of in Vietnam is a profession that involves tasks such as breeding production, aquaculture of groups of aquatic species (fish, crustaceans, mollusks, algae) that are adapted to saltwater, brackish water environments, meeting the requirements of level 5 in the Vietnam National Qualifications Framework.

The main tasks of this profession include: the breeding production of crustaceans, marine fish, and mollusks; the production of aquatic feed; prevention and treatment of aquatic animal diseases; breeding of marine shrimp, marine fish, seaweed, and mollusks; trading in aquatic products and services.

Graduates of Aquaculture in brackish water and saltwater, Level 5 of VQF in Vietnam are capable of taking on technical positions in aquatic feed production factories, breeding stock farms, cultivation areas, farms cultivating marine and brackish water aquatic species for agencies and enterprises in the aquatic sector, or of establishing and operating their own breeding stock farms and aquaculture systems for themselves and their families.

The minimum knowledge volume is 1800 hours (equivalent to 65 credits).
