On December 28, 2018, Circular 54/2018/TT-BLDTBXH of the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Vietnam stipulating the minimum volume of knowledge and requirements for competencies that learners must achieve after graduating from intermediate and college levels in health and social services fields was issued.
Vietnam: General Introduction to intermediate training program in physical therapy and rehabilitation engineering
According to the regulation on the minimum amount of knowledge, competency requirements for learners after graduating from intermediate and college levels in the field of physical therapy and rehabilitation engineering issued together with Circular 54/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, intermediate-level physical therapy and rehabilitation engineering is a specialized modern medical engineering field that meets level 4 requirements in the Vietnam National Qualifications Framework.
This is a specialized medical work in rehabilitation using movement therapies and physical therapies, employing physical agents such as temperature, electricity, etc., for treatment to help individuals with injuries or diagnosed bodily injuries recover and maintain basic motor abilities (e.g., sitting, standing, walking..) as well as prevent complications, enabling them to live independently.
The field of physical therapy and rehabilitation engineering comprises two main work areas: Physiotherapy Rehabilitation, and Therapeutic Activity Rehabilitation.
Practitioners of physiotherapy and rehabilitation work in Hospitals, Nursing – Rehabilitation Centers, Orthopedic – Rehabilitation Centers, clinics in both public and private medical facilities within and outside the country.
Note: The minimum amount of knowledge for intermediate-level learners is 1,700 hours (equivalent to 60 credits).
