On December 28, 2018, Circular 52/2018/TT-BLDTBXH was issued by the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids, and Social Affairs of Vietnam on the minimum knowledge volume and required competencies for graduates from intermediate (Level 4 of VQF) and college (Level 5 of VQF) levels in agriculture, forestry, fisheries, and veterinary.

According to the regulation on the minimum knowledge volume and required competencies for graduates from intermediate and college levels in Forestry issued together with Circular 52/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, the basic knowledge required for graduates of Forestry, Level 5 of in Vietnam is stipulated as follows:
- Be able to present general knowledge about policies, and laws on forestry; conduct surveys to assess the current state of natural conditions and socio-economic conditions; current forest resources state, and forestry business and production results;
- Be able to present fundamental knowledge about surveying and mapping; methods of using surveying instruments, machines, and specialized software;
- Be able to mention fundamental knowledge about plant physiology, soil - fertilizers, forest plants, forest animals, climate-weather, and related knowledge;
- Be able to present basic content about the management, protection, and development of protective forests, special-use forests, and production forests;
- Be able to present general techniques on planting, caring for, nurturing, and restoring forests; forest pest control, forest fire prevention and fighting, preventing people and livestock from harming forests;
- Be able to present some basic content about the exploitation and processing of forest products.
- Be able to present some basic content about the management and protection of wild, rare forest animals and plants and domesticated forest animals and plants;
- Be able to mention the system of organization, duties, and authority of forest protection agencies at all levels; duties and authority of forest rangers when performing official duties;
- Be able to present regulations and ensure labor safety;
- Be able to present basic knowledge about politics, culture, society, law, national defense and security, physical education, and informatics according to the regulations.
