Vietnam: Accuracy and consistency must be assured in measurement

The Law on Measurement 2011 of Vietnam was promulgated on November 11, 2011, consisting of 09 chapters and 58 articles, covering measurement, rights and responsibilities of entities participating in measurement.

According to Article 4 of the Law on Measurement 2011 of Vietnam, measurement shall be in compliance with the following principles:

One, the accuracy and consistency must be assured.

Two, measurement activities shall:

- Take place transparently, objectively, precisely and fairly to all sides including sellers, buyers, payers and service providers;

- Be safe, environmentally-friendly and healthy;

- Facilitate both domestic and international trade;

- Ensure lawful rights and interests of measuring entities;

- Be conformable to international practices;

- Be conformable to agreements between parties on the basis of conformity with regulations hereof and other relevant laws.

Besides, the Law on Measurement 2011 also specifies acts prohibited in measurement, including:

One, deliberate detriment to national interest, defense and security, public order and lawful rights and interest of entities by taking advantage of measuring

Two, deliberate falsification of measuring instrument and measuring results.

Three, deliberate provision and falsification of testing, inspection and calibration results of measuring instrument and standards.

Four, acts of forging, erasing and editing quantity markings, inspection marks, seals and certificates.

This is the content specified in Article 7 of the Law on Measurement 2011 of Vietnam.
