Circular 09/2017/TT-BLDTBXH was issued on March 13, 2017. One of the basic contents stipulated in this document is the cases in which learners are allowed to temporarily take a leave from school or take sick leave. To be specific:
1. Learners may temporarily stop the program they are studying and retain their academic scores if they fall into one of the following cases:
- Being mobilized by a competent state agency to perform national defense and security duties;- Due to health reasons, they must temporarily stop their studies for a long period for treatment and must have a certificate from the medical facility where the learner is examined or treated or must have a certificate of disability according to the provisions of the Law on Persons with Disabilities;- During the period of being disciplined with temporary suspension from studies;- Being prosecuted for criminal liability but there is no conclusion from the competent authority or there is a conclusion from the competent authority but not in the case of being disciplined at the level of expulsion;- For other reasons not specified above: the learner must complete at least the first semester at the school; not in the case of expulsion.
2. Learners may temporarily postpone subjects or modules according to the school's training plan and must complete the temporarily postponed subjects or modules within the maximum time frame for completing the program if they fall into one or more of the following cases:
- Due to health reasons that are not sufficient to study the subject or module and must have a certificate from the medical facility where the learner is examined or treated;- Having other reasons for not being able to participate in completing the subject or module, accompanied by specific evidence and must be approved by the principal.
3. Learners who do not fall into the aforementioned cases and have legitimate reasons may take temporary leave according to the school's regulations and must complete their academic tasks according to the regulations, and ensure the conditions for taking the final exam of the subject or module to be eligible to take the final exam of the subject or module.
4. The time of temporary leave is counted in the maximum period for learners to complete the program as stipulated in Clause 2, Article 3 of Circular 09/2017/TT-BLDTBXH.
5. The principal shall specify the temporary leave of learners.
