On August 01, 2014, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of Vietnam issued Circular 44/2014/TT-BTNMT regulating forensic assessment in the field of natural resources and environment. This Circular stipulates the standards for forensic assessors.

Circular 44/2014/TT-BTNMT stipulates the standards for appointing judicial experts in the field of natural resources and environment in Vietnam as follows:
- Good health and moral qualities;
- The standard of "Having a university degree or higher" means holding a university degree or equivalent or higher, accredited by a Vietnamese educational institution or recognized as equivalent to a university or postgraduate degree in Vietnam according to the law on education and international treaties to which the Socialist Republic of Vietnam is a member, in one of the following specialized fields: Land; Water resources; Geology, minerals; Environment; Hydrometeorology; Climate change; Surveying and mapping; Sea and islands; Remote sensing; Other training fields appropriate to the appointed professional position;
- Have directly worked in the specialized field trained as stipulated in Clause 2 of this Article for at least 5 continuous years from the date of appointment to the rank of officials and public employees or signing a labor contract.
