This is a noteworthy content in Circular 17/2015/TT-BVHTTDL regulating the prevention and control of doping in sports activities in Vietnam from March 1, 2016.
Regulation on the responsibilities of athletes and training institutions in doping prevention and control in Vietnam (Illustration)
Circular 17/2015/TT-BVHTTDL clearly defines the responsibilities of athletes and athlete training centers in anti-doping as follows:
Responsibilities of Athletes
- Comply with the regulations of the World Anti-Doping Code and the legal provisions on anti-doping of Vietnam.
- Fully and correctly perform the rights and obligations of athletes in anti-doping.
- Use medications, nutritional supplements, functional foods, and other special health recovery means as permitted by doctors and coaches.
Responsibilities of Athlete Training Centers
- Provide complete and accurate information about athletes and facilitate the specialized agencies' execution of doping tests as stipulated.
- Include propaganda and education content on anti-doping in sports in the athlete training and coaching program.
- Regularly check and supervise the implementation of anti-doping work for athletes, coaches, and medical staff.
In addition, this Circular also stipulates the responsibilities of medical staff and coaches as follows:
- Regularly study to enhance knowledge and update information about banned substances and prohibited methods in training and competition.
- Propagate, educate, and prevent violations of the World Anti-Doping Code.
- Guide athletes in completing therapeutic use exemption documentation, and residency and training place records.
- Coordinate with specialized agencies to organize doping sample collection.
