The Law on Measurement on measurement, rights and responsibilities of entities participating in measurement was promulgated by the National Assembly of Vietnam on November 11, 2011. According to this Law, units of measurements consist of legal units of measurement and other types of units of measurement.
According to Article 8 of the Law on Measurement 2011 of Vietnam, legal units of measurement include:
- International system of units (SI) base units;
- SI derived units;
- Decimal multiples and decimal submultiples of SI units prescribed in point a and b of this clause;
- Units of measurements other than SI units but conformable to international conventions and national practices;
- Units of measurement that are made by combination of those prescribed in point a, b, c and d of this clause.
SI base units comprise:
- Metre (m) for length;
- Kilogram (kg) for weight;
- Second (s) for time;
- Ampere (A) for electric current;
- Kelvin (K) for temperature;
- Mole (mol) for amount of substance;
- Candela (cd) for luminous intensity.
