Prohibition on the Purchase and Sale of Databases Pertaining to Execution of Temporary Detention and Custody

On November 06, 2017, the Government of Vietnam promulgated Decree 121/2017/ND-CP on the construction, management, and use of the database (DB) on temporary detention and custody.

Decree 121 strictly prohibits the following actions in the construction, management, and use of databases regarding temporary detention and custody as follows:

- Deliberately distorting information, providing false information.- Arbitrarily creating, erasing, or altering information and documents to distort them.- Intentionally misusing the collected results, management, and use of databases regarding temporary detention and custody to infringe on the freedom, honor, privacy, and other legitimate interests of individuals and the state as prescribed by law.- Misappropriating, damaging, losing documents; trading, transferring, and illegally destroying information and documents.- Unauthorized access, alteration, impersonation, copying, disclosure, sending, or destruction of electronic stored records.
