Circular 16/2018/TT-BYT has been issued by the Ministry of Health, replacing Circular 18/2009/TT-BYT, stipulating regulations on infection control in healthcare facilities. This document takes effect from October 01, 2018.
According to the new regulations, the management and response to exposure involving microorganisms and disease prevention efforts are carried out as follows:
Prevention and Response to Exposure Involving Microorganisms:
- Establish a system for management, monitoring, response, and reporting of occupational accidents and risks related to microorganisms for healthcare workers.- Administer vaccines to healthcare workers at risk of exposure to infectious diseases.- Compile a list and ensure the availability of drugs, vaccines, and medical products for prophylactic treatment of healthcare workers exposed to infectious diseases.
Disease Prevention and Control
- Develop a response plan for epidemics; cooperate with preventive healthcare facilities and other healthcare facilities in disease prevention and control, and emergency responses in the area as assigned by the management authority.- Prepare facilities, equipment, medicines, chemicals, supplies, and manpower for participation in disease prevention and control.- Organize training for healthcare workers on disease prevention and control.- Implement information reporting policies and declare infectious diseases and epidemics as required.
