The Ministry of Education and Training has just issued Circular 07/2018/TT-BGDDT amending and supplementing the Regulation on Regular University Admission; Admission to Regular Training Programs for Teacher Training Colleges, issued together with Circular 05/2017/TT-BGDDT.
Reduction in Priority Score Range
The amended regulation adjusts the reduction in priority scores according to individual groups and regions.
To be specific, according to the current regulation in Circular 05/2017/TT-BGDDT, the priority score range for individual groups and regions is defined as follows: The difference in admission scores between two successive groups is 1.0 (one point), and between two successive regions is 0.5 (half a point), corresponding to the total score of three test/exam subjects (in the combination of subjects considered for admission) without coefficient multiplication on a 10-point scale.
However, Circular 07/2018/TT-BGDDT amends and supplements as follows: The difference in admission scores between two successive groups is 1.0 (one point), and between two successive regions is 0.25 (a quarter of a point), corresponding to the total score of three test/exam subjects (in the combination of subjects considered for admission) without coefficient multiplication on a 10-point scale.
Input Quality Assurance Threshold
According to the amended Regulation, for training sectors in the group of teacher training disciplines at university, college, and intermediate levels: Based on the results of the national high school exam, the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) determines the input quality assurance threshold for schools to build their admission plans.
For other sectors, schools autonomously determine the input quality assurance threshold, publish it on the school's online portal and the MOET's Admissions Information Portal before candidates adjust their aspirations.
Regarding the organization of admissions, Circular 07 specifies: The admission score is the total score of the test/exam subjects on a 10-point scale for each test/exam subject of each combination considered for admission, plus priority scores for individual groups and regions according to regulations, rounded to two decimal places; for candidates with equal admission scores at the end of the list, additional conditions stipulated by each school will be considered for admission, if still exceeding the quota, preference is given to candidates with higher aspirations.
Schools may conduct multiple admissions rounds in a year, the admission plan for each round must be publicly announced on the school's online portal and the MOET's Admissions Information Portal at least 10 days before candidates register for admission.
By the 1st of March, May, July, August, September, and November, schools must update the list of admitted candidates and the list of candidates enrolled from the admissions rounds on the school's online portal and the MOET's Admissions Information Portal.
The admission quota of schools is determined according to the regulations on determining the admission quota for intermediate and college levels in teacher training sectors; university, master's, and doctoral levels issued by the MOET.
