On February 10, 2019, Circular 48/2018/TT-BLDTBXH of the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Vietnam promulgating regulations on the minimum volume of knowledge and competency requirements that learners must achieve after graduating from intermediate and college levels in the fields of electrical engineering, electronics, and telecommunications, will take effect.

In the Regulations on the minimum amount of knowledge and competency requirements that learners must achieve after graduating from intermediate and college levels in the maritime electrical engineering sector, issued with Circular 48/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, it is stipulated that maritime electrical engineering at the intermediate level is a sector where practitioners operate, calibrate electrical systems, maintain and repair electrical equipment and systems on ships according to technical requirements, install electrical systems on ships to meet the technical standards of classification societies; conduct inspections after installation and repair, meeting level 4 requirements in the Vietnam National Qualifications Framework.
Maritime electrical engineers often work on sea vessels, in shipbuilding, and repair plants. The working environment is usually confined, noisy, with high vibration, subject to harsh weather conditions, and the work is both independent and collaborative with a high level of discipline. Therefore, workers must be in good health, have a passion for the profession, sufficient technical knowledge competence to perform their duties, and the ability to quickly adapt to the work assigned.
Minimum amount of knowledge: 1,700 hours (equivalent to 60 credits).
Notably, after graduation, learners are competent to meet the demands of the job positions in the sector, including:
- Installing maritime electrical systems;
- Operating maritime electrical systems;
- Maintaining and repairing maritime electrical systems;
Additionally, the regulations on learning capacity and advancement for learners are as follows:
- The minimum amount of knowledge and competency requirements that learners must achieve after graduating from the intermediate level in maritime electrical engineering can continue to develop at higher levels;
- Graduates have the capability for self-study, updating scientific and technological advancements within the sector to enhance their level or enroll in higher education in the same or related sector.
