Handling Procedures for Recalled Organic Products

On August 29, 2018, the Government of Vietnam promulgated Decree 109/2018/ND-CP on regulations regarding Organic Agriculture.

Similarly to other products, to protect consumer rights, organic products that do not meet quality standards will be recalled. Decree 109 provides the regulations on handling recalled organic products as follows:

- Correct labeling errors and logo errors;- Repurpose those batches of products that have expired, are unsuited for their original purpose, or do not meet organic agricultural standards but do not pose a safety risk to health or the environment;- Destroy batches of damaged products; those with unclear origins or containing prohibited substances or harmful agents that exceed regulatory and technical standards;- Re-export batches of imported organic products that fail to meet Vietnamese organic standards or regulatory technical standards or are expired.
