Fine up to VND 5 million for issuing unreliable forecasts

This is the new penalty stipulated in Decree 84/2017/ND-CP amending and supplementing Decree 173/2013/ND-CP on administrative penalties in the fields of hydrometeorology, surveying, and cartography.

The act of issuing a meteorological and hydrological forecast and warning bulletin 3 consecutive times in 1 month without sufficient reliability will be fined from 3 to 5 million VND.

Violations of the above act may result in the suspension of the licensed meteorological and hydrological forecasting and warning activities from 03 to 06 months.

Moreover, the penalty levels for violations of the regulations on meteorological and hydrological forecasting and warning activities by organizations and individuals that have been licensed for such activities are as follows:

- Acts of not reporting or incompletely reporting the results of meteorological and hydrological forecasting and warning activities: Fines from 5 to 10 million VND.- Fines from 10 to 15 million VND for one of the following violations:- Not complying with technical standards on meteorological and hydrological forecasting and warning;- Not complying with technical processes, quality assessment processes in meteorological and hydrological forecasting and warning.

Decree 84/2017/ND-CP takes effect from September 10, 2017.
