Exemption from legal training in Vietnam with one of the following documents​ (Illustrative photo)

According to Article 2 of Circular 17/2011/TT-BTP, documents that prove eligibility for exemption from legal professional training and reduction in apprenticeship period for practicing law in Vietnam are specified as follows:

Documents evidencing that a person is exempted from legal professional training as stipulated in Article 13 of the Law on Lawyers or exempted from or afforded reduction in the apprenticeship period for practicing law as stipulated in Article 16 of the Law on Lawyers include one of the following papers:

1. A copy of the Decision on Appointment of a Judge, Prosecutor, Investigator or the Resolution of the People's Council, the Minutes of Election of Judges by the People's Council for cases where judges are elected by the district or provincial People's Council.

2. A copy of the Decision on Conferring the Title of Professor, Associate Professor in Legal Discipline or a copy of the Doctor of Law degree.

3. A copy of the Decision on Appointment of Senior Examiners in the Court Sector, Senior Prosecutors in the Prosecution Sector, Senior Specialists, Senior Researchers, Senior Lecturers in the Legal Profession or the Decision on Appointment of Principal Examiners in the Court Sector, Principal Prosecutors in the Prosecution Sector, Principal Specialists, Principal Researchers, Principal Lecturers in the Legal Profession.

4. A document certifying the duration of work in the legal field by the institution where the person works.

5. Other legal documents proving that the person is exempted from legal professional training or granted reduction in the apprenticeship period for practicing law.
