Dissemination of Weather Forecast News Without Origin May Be Fined Up to VND 10 Million

This is the new penalty added in Decree 84/2017/ND-CP amending and supplementing Decree 173/2013/ND-CP stipulating penalties for administrative violations in the fields of meteorology and hydrology, surveying, and mapping.

According to penalties for violations of regulations on the dissemination and broadcasting of meteorological and hydrological forecast and warning bulletins, specified as follows:

- Disseminating and broadcasting meteorological and hydrological forecast and warning bulletins without clearly stating the source of the bulletin: A fine of 3 - 5 million VND;- Disseminating and broadcasting meteorological and hydrological forecast and warning bulletins without a source: A fine of 5 - 10 million VND;- Incompletely disseminating and broadcasting the content of meteorological and hydrological disaster forecast and warning bulletins: A fine of 10 – 20 million VND;- Delay in disseminating and broadcasting meteorological and hydrological disaster forecast and warning bulletins compared to the stipulated time: A fine of 20 – 30 million VND.

A fine of 40 – 50 million VND applies to one of the following violations:

- Failing to disseminate and broadcast meteorological and hydrological disaster forecast and warning bulletins;- Fraud regarding the source of meteorological and hydrological disaster forecast and warning bulletins when disseminating and broadcasting;- Distorting meteorological and hydrological disaster forecast and warning bulletins when disseminating and broadcasting.

Decree 84/2017/ND-CP is effective from September 10, 2017.
