Adjustment of administrative boundaries of communes and districts in Lai Chau Province

Establishment of Multiple Communes in Districts of Lai Chau Province

(1) Establishment of Ta Mung Commune in Than Uyen District by adjusting 5,094.7 hectares of natural area and 3,760 inhabitants from Muong Kim Commune.

- Ta Mung Commune has 5,094.7 hectares of natural area and 3,760 inhabitants.- Administrative boundaries of Ta Mung Commune: East borders Lau Chai Commune, Mu Cang Chai District, Yen Bai Province; West borders Ta Gia Commune, Ta Hua Commune; South borders Khoen On Commune; North borders Muong Kim Commune.

(2) Establishment of Phuc Than Commune in Than Uyen District by adjusting 5,628.32 hectares of natural area and 4,865 inhabitants from Muong Than Commune.

- Phuc Than Commune has 5,628.32 hectares of natural area and 4,865 inhabitants.- Administrative boundaries of Phuc Than Commune: East borders Nam Xe Commune, Van Ban District, Lao Cai Province; West borders Muong Mit Commune; South borders Muong Than Commune; North borders Pac Ta Commune, Ho Mit Commune.

(3) Establishment of Phuc Khoa Commune in Than Uyen District by adjusting 8,309.09 hectares of natural area and 3,749 inhabitants from Muong Khoa Commune.

- Phuc Khoa Commune has 8,309.09 hectares of natural area and 3,749 inhabitants.- Administrative boundaries of Phuc Khoa Commune: East borders Seo Ma Ty Commune, Sa Pa District, Lao Cai Province, West borders Muong Khoa Commune; South borders commune-level town Nong Truong, Than Uyen District; North borders Ban Bo Commune, Tam Duong District.

After administrative boundary adjustment:

- Muong Kim Commune has 6,870.02 hectares of natural area and 7,037 inhabitants.- Muong Than Commune has 4,688.44 hectares of natural area and 6,563 inhabitants.- Muong Khoa Commune has 8,599.28 hectares of natural area and 5,340 inhabitants.

(4) Establishment of Son Binh Commune in Tam Duong District by adjusting 10,936.6 hectares of natural area and 2,292 inhabitants from Binh Lu Commune.

- Son Binh Commune has 10,936.6 hectares of natural area and 2,292 inhabitants.- Administrative boundaries of Son Binh Commune: East borders Ban Khoang Commune, Sa Pa District, Lao Cai Province; West borders Binh Lu Commune; South borders Ban Bo Commune; North borders Trung Leng Ho Commune, Nam Pung Commune, Bat Xat District, Lao Cai Province.

After administrative boundary adjustment: Binh Lu Commune has 4,453.29 hectares of natural area and 4,127 inhabitants.

Adjustment of Natural Area and Population

According to Decree 156 adjusting:

- The entire 7,500.3 hectares of natural area and 2,190 inhabitants of La Nhi Thang Commune under Tam Duong District; 13,149 hectares of natural area and 5,118 inhabitants of Huoi Luong Commune under Sin Ho District to Phong Tho District for management.- 500 hectares of natural area and 140 inhabitants of Huoi Luong Commune to commune-level town Phong Tho under Phong Tho District for management.

After administrative boundary adjustment:

- Huoi Luong Commune has 12,649 hectares of natural area and 4,978 inhabitants.- Phong Tho commune-level town has 4,441.84 hectares of natural area and 2,114 inhabitants.

- Tam Duong District has 68,656.56 hectares of natural area and 40,685 inhabitants, with 13 subordinate administrative units, including communes: Sung Phai, Nung Nang, Ban Giang, Ban Hon, Then Xin, Ta Leng, Ho Thau, Binh Lu, Son Binh, Na Tam, Ban Bo, Khun Ha and commune-level town Tam Duong.

- Sin Ho District has 190,726.6 hectares of natural area and 67,097 inhabitants, with 23 subordinate administrative units, including communes: Pa Tan, Nam Ban, Hong Thu, Phin Ho, Ta Phin, Phang So Lin, Sa De Phin, Ta Ngao, Lang Mo, Tua Sin Chai, Ma Quai, Nam Tam, Nam Cha, Noong Heo, Pu Sam Cap, Can Co, Nam Ma, Nam Cuoi, Nam Han, Le Loi, Chan Nua, Pu Dao, and commune-level town Sin Ho.

- Phong Tho District has 102,876 hectares of natural area and 56,544 inhabitants, with 18 subordinate administrative units, including communes: Si Lo Lau, Vang Ma Chai, Ma Ly Chai, Mo Si San, Pa Vay Su, Mu Sang, Tung Qua Lin, Dao San, Ban Lang, Ma Ly Pho, Hoang Then, Khong Lao, Nam Xe, Muong So, Sin Sui Ho, Lan Nhi Thang, Huoi Luong and commune-level town Phong Tho.

- Than Uyen District has 169,550 hectares of natural area and 87,249 inhabitants, with 20 subordinate administrative units, including communes: Than Thuoc, Muong Khoa, Phuc Khoa, Nam Can, Ho Mit, Nam So, Pac Ta, Muong Than, Phuc Than, Ta Mit, Muong Mit, Pha Mu, Na Cang, Ta Hua, Muong Kim, Ta Mung, Ta Gia, Khoen On and commune-level town Nong Truong, commune-level town Than Uyen.

Decree 156/2006/ND-CP effective from January 19, 2007.
